All KAHUNA EPIC SERIES models are hand shaped and use an Epoxy Sandwich Vacuum Construction (ESVC). The foam blank is wrapped with 2 full layers of fiberglass cloth on the top & bottom. A 3rd layer is added to the top of the board and is sandwiched with either fiberglass cloth, bamboo veneer. or 3k Carbon.
For overall strength and durability, the standing zone has an additional top layer of fiberglass cloth wrapping over the deck extending to the underside of the board. The board is then vacuum bagged for perfect consistency producing a strong epoxy sandwich.
PRO series is a "hand laid" board based on a 18kg foam blank with a balsa stringer. The lay-up starts with a full 3k carbon wrap, then a bamboo veneer is added to the top and bottom of the blank for added strength. The board then receives a full 6oz glass wrap and an additional 3k carbon top layer for even more strength in the standing zone. Once all the layers are set up by hand, the board is vacuum bagged. The vacuum bag process insures consistent curing and evenly distributing the resins throughout the overlapping layers. The PRO Series boards have a unique one of a kind look and feel, resulting from the ultimate bamboo/carbon construction. These boards are built to charge the waves!!
Our WARRIOR Series has been manufactured for the past 4 years using a proven method of epoxy construction called "Compression Molding". The compression molding process starts by using a CNC machine for precise and consistent shaping of the WARRIOR Series blanks. The precision shaping allows the board blank to fit and be compressed in our exclusive KAHUNA mold. We apply heat with vacuum pressure to aid the curing process ensuring shell consistency and strength. For added rail strength and overall board durability, the standing zone has an additional top layer of fiberglass cloth wrapping over the deck and extending to the underside of the board.
The 2018 WARRIOR Series still features the “K-Rail”, an extra 6” layer of Kevlar cloth that wraps the entire rail. This Kevlar wrap adds resistance to paddle strikes and dock dings. Another great feature that remains is the “3K Carbon Standing Zone”. Adding a layer of carbon weave not only adds to the durability of the board but makes this area stiffer, more resistant to heel dents. This also reduced our board weight by 2.7%.
All KAHUNA EPIC SERIES models are hand shaped and use an Epoxy Sandwich Vacuum Construction (ESVC). The foam blank is laid up with two 6 oz layers of fiberglass cloth on the bottom that overlap the rails. The top is made up of 3 layers, two 6 oz fibreglass layers sandwiching an additional 4oz layer of glass or a bamboo veneer depending on your finish. For overall strength and durability in the standing zone, an additional top layer of 3K carbon glass is used resulting in 4 layers under foot. The board is then vacuum bagged for perfect consistency producing a strong epoxy sandwich.
KAHUNA iSUP’s are constructed using a Reinforced Drop Stitch (RDS) technology which is the most advanced method available today. RDS is 4% lighter because the 2 layers are heat pressed for consistency and uses less glue. All iSUP’s need strands of "silk string" to control thickness and stiffness. At Kahuna we demand that our iSUPs have 850 strands/sq. ft, this is the highest amount currently available in the paddleboard industry. For 2018, we were able to increase the stiffness in the standing zone even more by adding a 3K “Twill" side rail reinforcment. This also puts 3 layers of material in the paddle strike zone which adds to our renowned quality and durability.
The ALOHA SERIES has been developed as a price point entry level series for anyone just getting started in paddleboarding. There are 2 traditional shapes that are wide and stable to get you out on the water. The Aloha Eleven Two Touring is designed with a v-shaped bow which allows you to cruise straighter and faster. The Eleven, the Ten Two and the Nine Six are all round boards perfect for lake use.
The ALOHA SERIES has similar board construction to the EPIC SERIES with 2 layers of 6 oz glass on top and bottom and an added 3K Carbon Standing Zone on top for added strength and durability.
These boards come with tie-downs, a GORE-TEX vent valve, screwless plastic fin, leash and a strong composite two piece paddle.
Epic Zen is made the same an a Kuda or King, 3 layers top, bamboo sandwich, 2 6oz layers on the bottom. We believe paddle boarding on glassy water is a Zen experience that will leave you in total calmness after each session. Designed for the yoga enthusiast, we lowered the rocker to give the board the longest level deck on the market and added chined rails for stability when the board is stationary. We use our Epoxy Sandwich Vacuum Construction (ESVC) and Bamboo Construction to keep the board strong and light. The ZEN is also very easy to paddle which makes it a perfect all round board for the fitness enthusiast.
